Hi - I'm hoping someone can help identify this coin, or at least narrow it down for me! I know nothing about old coins. (Curiously, I actually found this one in my pocket along with some other change!)
The coin is extremely worn out and there's not much information to ID it with.

Thank you for any input.

Here I'll take a guess, I'll say Constantinus I bronze follis around 300AD. I'm no expert in ancient coins, not even a rookie, so don't believe what I'm saying here, this was simply a guess.

I sure appreciate people taking the time to help ID this. I'm still amazed the thing showed up in my pile of change somehow. It would be great to know when and where this is from - I really like the idea of carrying around an ancient coin and would like to be able to tell its story to my friends.

The coin is late Roman, and looks like it might be Constantine I (The Great) 307-337 AD. Though it's a bit too worn to tell for sure. Still it's a 1700 year old coin. I think that has to be the oldest coin that anyone has found in pocket change. I hope this will spark your interest in collecting ancient coins. There is a forum here that deals with ancients. Check it out.

Thank you for your input! Fascinating, and I'll check out the ancient coin forum to learn more.
Thinking back, recently I had pilfered some coins out of a big jar of loose change that's been sitting around at my house for years because I needed some for the bus. Possibly the coin had ended up in the jar somehow, although that still doesn't explain how it was out in normal circulation in the first place. That jar has been sitting on my shelf for years, but not 1700....
