I have a question to all you roll hunters out there. Would you like to get the best coin in the box in your first roll or your last. It has happened to me both ways and I have mixed feelings about each. One sets up expectations for the box and the other gives me a good feeling to end the day. Just curious

I'm just happy to find something interesting in a box.
It seems whenever I get discouraged while sorting through coins, I'll soon find something fun like 10 copper pennies, a canadian or similar in the next handful.
I just started CRH with pennies yesterday and as soon as I opened the first box, there staring at me from the end of one of the unopened rolls was a wheatie. Pretty neat to me.

Last. That would make happy because I did not find anything good until the last roll. John1

I'm stuck on this one. mostly because I dont get though a whole box for sometimes weeks. I'm actually stuck right now on 4 rolls I have open and sorted just dont have to time to go though them. so lets say First Middle and Last!

I like last, but I kind of cheat. I look at the ends of all the rolls and if anything interesting like a Wheatie, Canadian, or silver is on the end I set it aside. I then save those rolls till the end or periodically open one up for a pick me up if I get a lot in a row that are sad.

It doesn't really matter to me, but I prefer to find it first.

I get clear brinks rolls, so if I see a silver edge in a box of dimes I save it for last, unless I'm depressed and want to see a keeper right now. But then it turns out to be Canadian.

I was on a hot streak with half boxes about a month ago, then I got a skunk...or so I thought. I was searching on the couch, and one of the rolls must have rolled under my leg. Finished the skunk box, and was cleaning up the wrappers with a sad look on my face and I stood up and saw the wrapped roll. Figured it was a dud, but...saw some beautiful whiteness staring at me at the end of the roll. Ended the box with a 1964 Kennedy.
So long story short, I prefer to get the best one at the end, it's a nice surprise. Can't tell you how many times I've started with 10 40% in the first few rolls, then nothing in the last 40 rolls.

i prefer first roll. If I am going through a box of dimes for silver and find one in the first roll, I know that my box at least has 1 and I am happy with that. If I get nothing until the last roll, the whole box was really frustrating until that one roll, and I don't feel that great about it. I usually like finding stuff early on so I don't have to worry about getting a box with nothing in it.

First roll. It would give me confidence and hope for the rest of the box.

You know it takes a lot of discipline to wait till the end of the box to look at the best coin in the bunch.

I don't really have a preference for one or the other but it seems as though I usually search through a whole box and don't find anything until the very last roll. If I find something early on I get my hopes up and expect to find more ... when nothing pops up I'm a little "blah". If I search through a whole box and don't find anything until the last roll and find just one it seems like that one coin makes my day :)

When opening rolls I sort my cents into three groups;copper, key zinc(92,88,99 and a few others),others. I check the key zincs first then the others and save the coppers for slow times,so it's hard to tell what roll they come from.
