The lettering appears Greek (one word is clearly "BASILEOS")...

Hello and welcome.

I wish I could have happier news for you, but I have to tell you that your coin is not genuine. The obverse bears the name "DIODOTOS SOTEROS", copied off this silver tetradrachm of Agathokles of Bactria, commemorating the country's founder, Diodotos I. But the name AGAThOKLEOS on the reverse is garbled, altered to read something like AGNIYALEOMTOS. This reverse type of Zeus seated has been copied off a different coin of Agathokles.

This, plus the generally poor artwork, make me think this is a relatively modern "tourist copy" from India or Afghanistan, much like this example in the FORVM fakes database.

I rolled the thread just enough but not enough to realise that Sap had posted.
Without seeing Sap's post, my first reaction was
'This coin doesn't look right'

Stylistic abberations often give a fake away.

Thank you for your reply, Sap. This coin was actually found in a village in Azerbaijan, which is close to the places you mentioned in your post. Thanks again!
