It looks like Poland goes for the Guinness Book in the category "most commemorative types in one year"! And these are just 2 zloty with a regular strike.

I think that it is not about beating the record, just the National Mint of Poland is one of the best in the world! And seeks to commemorate the interesting events and characters

Hmm, when you collect Polish coins only, getting all of these is sure "doable" and certainly affordable, especially if you are in Poland, as the 2 zł pieces are issued at face. My problem with these is that many "themes" are commemorated on several coins - say, 2 zł NG, 10 zł silver and often gold too. So somebody like me who focuses on euro coins (I'm in Germany) may well find them attractive.

But I stopped collecting them simply because of the sheer volume. Same "problem" with French euro coins by the way. Design wise, however, they sure are great. And the silver pieces are even more interesting, as they have two "issue-specific" sides.

I'll tell you that in my humble opinion, and not just mine! Polish coins are certainly nicer than the Euro, and we collect them. For me, the Euro coins have no soul is curious about what will be the value of this whole Union kiedu August disintegrate;]

Can you see these 2 zloty pieces in actual circulation too? I like the designs but never seen one in circulation during my holiday trips to Poland.

Pandesalapi, the only gold in there is in the name. There's nothing golden about copper, aluminium, zinc, and tin alloy. Same metal some fractional euro coins are made of. It's supposed to be antimicrobial and tarnish resistant.
