*** Moved by Staff to a more appropriate forum. ***I picked this up on
ebay, and the package arrived yesterday:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/33066330838....m1439.l2649I didn't notice it initially in the pictures when I placed my bid, but when the coins arrived, I found that I had gotten the 1955 Bugs Bunny error. Going back to
ebay, if you enlarge the fourth picture, you can certainly see the "teeth" on Ben's upper lip. I'm pretty excited, as this is my first error coin since I started collecting again.
As I understand, this error is of the clashed die variety, and is an artifact of an obverse die picking up some details of the feathers of the eagle on the reverse. However, I was curious as to a few things:
1) I understand this error is most common in the 1955 Franklins, but has been known to appear in other years. Anyone have a definitive list of years/mintmarks for which the error is known to exist? It would be interesting to collect the entire known Bugs Bunny series in addition to completing the "error-free" Franklin series.
2) Like most errors, pricing/value information is not readily handy for the Bugs Bunny error. However, I was curious as to if it is generally known what kind of premium the Bugs Bunny error has over its error-free counterpart.
3) How do you think I did?
