Hi there. Just wondering if anyone can tell me what's happening on the reverse of this 1983P where 2 columns appear mishapen and another appears twisted. Recalling back to another post that a member made the other day regarding twisted columns, I am thinking that the twisted column is PMD or MD but would the same apply to the thinner shapen columns? Thanks.

On those days when searching seems a little non-productive (which has been alot lately), it's good sometimes just to find anything that seems to be an error or even error like. Thanks asimpson91

John1, I have a question. Do they overpolish a die only when it is in LDS? I noticed that both sides of the coin seems to have numerous die scratches everywheres. I've heard the term alot but don't really know what an overpolished die really is. Thanks again.

No, they will polish a die when they notice it has a die clash on it or what ever kind of damage. It could happen on a new die after only a few strikes. The more times they polish the same die the more of the design is removed making the coins struck on that die look all weak and scratched.

Hey thank you for the very informative explanation John1. Now it's starting to make a little more sense to me.
