Just remember, this is what we sound like to our non-collecting friends.

Not exactly; I don't talk with an obnoxious voice when I proclaim any of my coin/paper finds.

Rick is just fine on Pawn Stars. He is not overly dramatic. Rick knows a good thing when he sees one and wants the item in his shop because he knows he can make money off of it OR he just wants to keep it for himself. I like Rick.

I can tell the difference between these 2 guys. There is no comparison!

By the way, that isn't you in those videos by any chance, biggfredd? Is it? Don't want to hurt anyone's feelings, but.......... but this young man is a little much.

They show him in the back, oozing about how he really wants an item.

There is a difference between being excited because you really want an item (like Rick on Pawn Stars) and acting like a 10 year old boy looking through a playboy for the first time (The guy in the videos).

Besides I think Rick's son "Big Dummy" is the true idiot on that show, he is about as dumb as they come, at least Chum Lee acting for the cameras.

I think you guys are being a little mean. He's recording these videos in earnest. he works at a wendy's and collects unusual coins that comes through. considering the budget he is on- getting a victory like this is incredible. I actually root for the guy. and he's also a young adult- sure the tonality of his voice is a little grating... but he's in it for the right reasons and I'm sure that young numismatists who stumble upon these videos will be excited.

heck, how lame would our videos of the same sort of thing be, really?

He scored a ton of Silver War Nickels and one or two whole rolls of Buffalo nickels. It was kind of funny because he kept showing all of these pre 1960 nickels that had S mint marks and acting all crazy like they were all that special, I think he might have thought they were proofs or something.

I am not going to speak for anybody else on this forum but I personally am happy for him that he found all those great coins. By saying that his voice is irritating does not take away from the fact that he seemed to be in the right place at the right time by finding the nickels. What irritated me is HOW "excited" he acted, not the simple fact in general that he was excited. I may be a bit jealous but overall, I am happy for the kid. In a way, we are all in this together when we share our great finds because this is a great and completely unpredictable hobby.

I agree; exactly what my point is.

I wouldn't be surprised if Corey (Rick's son) is a jerk in real life; he certainly comes off as one on his show. While this doesn't have any effect on his personality, his arm tattoos suck, which further makes me dislike him.
