I really like some of these coloured quarters and decided to put a set of Canada Day, Christmas and occasions quarters together. My question is, did they stop making coloured quarters after 2010? I have two from 2011 and neither are coloured and I noticed that the 2012 sets coming out don't contain coloured quarters.

Thank for the help fellow forum members.

I noticed the same thing, but I also see them tying up the painting lines with really large number of coloured circulation coins, so maybe that's it?

Unless I misunderstand your question there were several 25 cent colored coins issued by RCM in 2011. The Sasquatch, Tulip and Ladybug and a commemorative for the Royal Wedding. The pricing was in the $25.- range. I don't believe that they went into general circulation.Partially colored quarters in the 'Canadian Legendary Nature' series will be shipped to buyers in mid-February (12-pack @ $3.-) and will be released into circulation starting with the Wood Bison in January, the Orca in February and the Peregrine Falcon in March. The year of issue will be shown as 2011.

@aiglet7 I have a few of the coloured quarters from 2011 but I was talking about the Wedding, Birthday, Canada Day, Christmas, etc ones that they issues in the cards or as a seven coin uncirculated set with the quarter being the coloured coin.

I also like the Bird Series oversized 25 cents but started that collection a little too late. I missed out on all the earlier ones but will continue to hunt them down and try not to pay an arm and a leg. I've seen the prices on ebay.

Yes, they got rid of the coloured coin versions of the Birthday, Wedding, Christmas, etc. 2011 was the first year they went back to the non-colouring. I am not sure why they got rid of the colouring. I don't collect them, but I thought the colouring suited the coins.

Thanks for the info Lithanial

That's a good link timotay01. I've been on their website several times but have never order anything from Colonial Acres. I've picked up a few of the older quarters on ebay, but that can be time consuming doing it a quarter (or set) at a time.

You are right,The mint does a poor job on the series thing . You would think they would let the collectors know. I collect the Oh Canada series they had a 2011 colored leaves I don't have one.
