According to the US Coin Facts link the 2000-P nickel is the rarest nickel minted for circulation in the past 50 years. It is even rarer than the 2009 nickels:
2000-P 31.2 Million 2009-P 39.8 Million 2009-D 46.8 Million
Is this correct? I find at least a dozen 2000-P nickels per box but I have never found a 2009 nickel.
That number is wrong. Other sources say 864,240,000, although it's weird that it's about half the Denver mintage for that year (other recent years are similar for the two mints.)
