I agree with VF-20. A 1937 nickel with dot is worth about $1.25. Mintage was 4.5 million.
1937 was the first year that the beaver appeared on the nickel.

I didn't know this about the dot. I assume from your post that they made these with dots and without - and that they made a little less with the dots than without? I saw online the total pop was just over 10 M for this year - is that right? thanks for all the feedback - definitely my nicest and oldest Canadian from US nickel roll searching!

Looks like a 15 to me, net grade because George is way better than the beaver which is a 12 imo.

Robbudo - Checked the Royal Canadian Mint website and they list the 1937 5 cent mintage as 4,593,263 Million. The initials K G to the left of the beaver stand for (G.E.) Kruger-Gray who created the design for the coin.

The detail on the obverse is pretty good but a fair bit of wear in the hair detail also quite a lot of knocks and dings there, vf for the obverse.
the reverse seems to have suffered a bit more damage an I think aVF for that.
All up aVF, A really nice looking coin seeings as it has been out in the wild for 75 years.
Nice find
