Found this 2001 Lincoln Cent this weekend while searching through rolls. I seen it immediately but still not sure caused it. It runs right out of his hair and actually up threw the D in God. Tried getting some better shots of it but this is the best I could do right now.

Any ideas if it is actually a die error, crack or what? Any kind of value of something like this. My wife and I have been calling it the woody woodpecker lincoln coin today. Maybe it is a modern Abe with a spike cut.

No idea DD, but I can tell you this. I'm sure Metelman and/or Coppercoins will be along before too long and they would be able to take care of you.

Welcome to the forum if I haven't welcomed you yet.

I'm no error expert, but that looks like a very cool die crack to my old eyes. And I just love the "name" you've given to it

There is something that looks strange about the whole area on the coin,, can I see pics of the whole obverse ?

Take the coin out of the 2x2 for photo's the plastics tends to smooth the details out on the coin.

Thanks

Added a few more pictures to the original post for you. I see what you mean about the plastic from the 2x2. Now I see a few more things I didn't before and some that was from the plastic. I now see what appears to be a die crack on the forehead also. Thnaks for the advise Metalman.

Hi ordirtdevil

along with the obvious die cracks there is also some weakness of detail in the center of the hair,, either from a slighly filled die or from a strike weakness,,

I like die cracks and this one is in an interesting place,, But will not add any real value to the coin .

I also name some of my more interesting coins that I find !!

and Your welcome !!
