There were only 1,200 of these notes printed and at this time, depending upon who you believe, there are only 350 to 400 of them still out there. A quick google search shows a VF example priced at over $70,000. I am not enough of a currency expert to say for certain how fair the price is on the example you linked to, but I will say this... with items of this rarity a fair price is often the agreed upon price of both a seller and a buyer so if the seller finds a buyer at that price then I would call it fair.

The 2005 Blackbook Guide lists the value of this in UNC at $70,000. Add a premium to that for being part of the Binion hoard and being graded. Personally, I think it's a little steep but the availability of these notes is questionable. He may very well get that amount.

It is certainly out of line. $75,000 would be a fair price for this piece. Not the finest known, but has the pedigree. If you were buying for your grandkids, it could be worth the 99,000 price tag.
