Someone has contacted me about selling what I would consider a substantial number of gold coins. I do have a large coin shop in my town with an owner who has always been fair and very helpful when selling me coins. However I have never sold any coins much less gold. As far as I can tell none of these coins are really rare, but some have retail book values of 800.00 to 1000,00. What should I expect to be offered. What other options do I have. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

most dealers go buy the CDN (Coin Dealer Newsletter) when they buy coins or bullion. This is a publication that comes out about every month with prices of what the dealer to dealer prices should be for that particular coin. Not all coin dealers go by this guide but I have found that more do when they are buying, but you can throw it out the window when it comes time for them to sell to you, Which I can understand because a brick and mortar shop has overhead that they have to cover each month to stay in business and if they pay the same thing they sell for they would go out of business real quick

A lot of these coins are older. 1880's through 1920's. Some are newer boullion coins. There are a few age, pandas and isle of man. There are also some Mexican , French, and Austrian.

Can you post some pics? With pics to look at, people here should be able to give you pertty accurate grading to help where needed, so at least you have a good starting point prior to entering the coin shop/dealer. Once you have the minimum requirement on posts, you can sell here also. Not really an auction style, although that option is available here as well. I think you would get pretty fair pricing with the forum, and there are no fees. Plus, there are probably quite a few people here that would be interested in buying, including myself.

I have not gotten my hands on any of these coins yet. The lady who has them is in a small town 200 miles away. My dad who has been collecting for many years has seen them. According to him all but a couple appear to be in mint state. The lady who owns them is supposed to be coming up to the big city probably next tuesday or wednesday. I will be able to check them out then, and get some pictures. I feel like a kid waiting for the last day of school.
