A little history first...

For probably the first 15 years or so of my life my Great Aunt sent me birthday cards with $2 bills stuck inside. I have a couple left that I managed to not spend as a kid. I was looking through some things recently and found them and was reminded of her.

I'd like to find a 1927 $2 Bill and send it to her for her 86th birthday. I don't know anything about currency which is why I'm here. Do you have any advice or ideas? And what do you think I should expect to spend?

Thanks in advance. (: I know you won't do me wrong.

Come to find out she may have been born in 1928. I'm sure I'll know which it is by the end of the weekend.

I do not think a 1927 series exists for $2s but you should be able to find an AU/CU 1928 series without breaking the bank.

Sad to say it appears you're correct. It appears to have stopped in 1918 and started back up in 1928.

Here's a link I found: http://www.uscurrencyauctions.com/$2notes.htm

No clue how accurate the pricing is but it looks like a good list for reference. Hopefully she was born in 1928. Otherwise I may have to build her a 1927 coin type set instead.

Snagged this one: http://www.ebay.com/itm/31037347074...t_500wt_1413

I'm sure she'll appreciate it. Hopefully I don't get bitten by the currency bug because of this.

Most older currency does not have dates, but series. They may have made $2 in 1927, but you'd have to have a list if serial numbers.

Ones, for example, were made in 1923, 1928, 1934, 1935, 1957, 1963 series (and older and newer).
