I just COULD NOT get over the amount of clad some of you all have been pulling out of totlots.

I'm really really new to this, but I just couldn't get over the number of quarters that were being found and the relative lack of cents.

Every single hunt I had been on I had found more than twice as many cents as I had every other denomination combined.

Anyway, today instead of hitting one of the lots near my house I got in the truck and drove about a mile and a half away from my house to a totlot I had noticed on my way to work and WHAM... Every few feet I was finding something and I wasn't getting slammed with a bajillion cents and pulltabs.

It was at that point that I had a lightbulb moment... I actually thought these words to myself "Nohope hasn't been lying, I've just been hunting lots that had already been hit by someone else."

I had a little less than an hour to hunt. In that hour I was able to nearly double the clad count from my 6 previous hunts. It was also relatively trash free. I think I found 5 or 6 pull tabs and a weird piece of bent copper but that was about it. NO CANSLAW.

Here's another thing I'm excited about. As I said I only had about an hour to hunt. I was able to cover about half of the totlot I was on. There were two others at the same location that I didn't touch. AND there are a TON of other totlots in that neighborhood, which I'm HOPING are in similar shape.

Here's the pic and if you're interested I keep a running clad count on my site.

yep contra - the playgrounds with the climbing toys and what not... usually with a layer of woodchips... easy to learn on (which is what I'm doing).

Prolly not finding many cents because the zincolns have dissolved. Not even kids waste their time carrying cents around.

Kids throw those zincolns at each other. To them, they're just ammunition.

I thought "totlot" was a typo for "toilet". Get my mind out of the gutter.
