Mum and dad wanted a weekend in Canberra at some point this year. Just talked them in to going on March 2nd, they're not particularly into coins, but they're going on the mint tour so I can get some of the special coins. ;)

Anyone writing a book on coin collecting strategies feel free to include that hot tip!

Mint-Tour-Tickets-Booked!-Who-Wants-A-Coin!
Did a new mock up of the coin from the com law page.
It is going to be such a tiny flower, maybe has a different coin presentation card for this.

The mint is starting to get greedy with this counterstamp thing.
I can understand paying $5 if you have bought a tour ticket, but paying $12 for extras is stupid.

I wonder if they are going to pull a fast one and make the ANDA counter stamps $12 instead of last years $10.

I think this year is going to be my last effort at collecting the counterstamp coins, the mint have defiantly out priced them selves.

Bluebell description:
2012 $1 Copper, Aluminium, Bronze Uncirculated Coin -- Wheat Sheaf Dollar C Mintmark and Bluebell Counterstamp

REVERSE
A representation of 3 ears of wheat tied by a ribbon. Beneath the ribbon and to the right is the letter ‘C'. This letter denotes the Royal Australian Mint in Canberra. The design includes an ornamental border and a circle enclosing a stylised representation of a flower. The initials of the designer George Kruger Gray ‘K' and ‘G' are also included in the design as well as the inscriptions ‘20', ‘12', ‘AUSTRALIA', ‘ONE DOLLAR' and ‘C'.
OBVERSE
Consistent with all Australian legal tender coinage, an effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II will appear on the obverse side of the coin together with the inscriptions ‘ELIZABETH II', ‘AUSTRALIA 2012' and the initials of the designer Ian Rank-Broadley ‘IRB'.

Now we all know that the coin was having a bluebell stamp, but the description also says "ornamental border" hmm wonder what that is, maybe cute flowers and leaves.

You posted this thread way too soon - you have me excited but waiting for so long assuming it is still on though? Do you want cash in the next week or so or are you happy to make initial outlay and get cash later?
