Would it sway your buying opinion if the coin in a PCGS Rattler was rotated around alot? I am going to be listing this 1941-P PCSG MS-65 Washington, and I am wonder if I should "work at" getting it turned around (in the holder of course). What do you think (other than using a cloth back drop to hide the Plexiglas holder)? Edited by oih82w8 01/29/2012 08:46 am

It would not deter me. Bought this one recently. Great looking Washington!

That is common in these rattler holders and does not bother me.

If it really does bother you, to get it turned around, just shake the holder itself, it may take a while, but presentation is a necessity

Am I seeing this correct; a 90 degree rotated die? Kinda confusing with the orientation within the slab, I will have to double check when I get to the house.

Looks like it might be rotated to me too...not quite 90 degrees? Check it out and let us know.

Did you try to rotate it between pics?! Does kinda look like a rotated die to me.
Otherwise, no, a coin in a rattler holder is expected to move around and it wouldn't deter me from buying it if I saw it oriented any way other than north-south.

I did not intentionally rattle it between obverse and reverse images. I will place a piece of tape to measure any rotated die characteristics and post some images.

To me it looks like a 90 degree rotation.

I tap opposite the direction I want the coin to rotate. Always been able to get them lined up. For the moment!

Ok, I got the quarter rotated around (for now), and it is not a rotated die. Those that thought that it was a rotated die (like me) we need a day off from work...

There are many people (myself included) who just love these old, original holders. Most people who buy them know the coins often rotate in the holder. It has never stopped me or caused me to pay less for a coin.

I collect them and I have fun rotating them all over. Bob

myself I hate the rattler holders for that reason, I can't stand for my coins to be turned anyway but straight. The newer holders can be turned also but its allot harder to get them to spin. I ended up cracking every rattler holder I ever owned out because of this, well this and because they are an odd size and will not stack nor fit in the PCGS or NGC box
