Ive been looking around and you guys know how it is when you try to slow down on the buying for a bit you run into more coins you just have to have. I have many more coming by the end of Feb and cant wait. I have been trading and selling some of my US, canada and world coins to make up for the cost of some of these coins although not one of these coins was that expensive they add up when you buy a few. Thanks for the inputs on my coins I dont buy anything modern anymore and this is how I have always bought my US coins so I will be building up a good collection this year. I think I am getting addicted to buying ancients now. I like the portraits and reverse images, add a little color and signs of use and thats the kind of coins I like to buy. Its not an investment for me its a hobby.

You have a nice growning collection. I did the same as you and sold my entire US collection to feed my ancient coin habit.

Thanks guys, I was getting bored with the modern coins(Im not trying to take anything about modern coins I still like to attribute varieties) and have dabbled in ancients since somewhere around 2005 and always liked the art on the coins and the fact that the dies where man made not computer generated and machine made.

There is something about ancient coin collecting, isn't there? I've really been getting interested in ancient coins to the exclusion of all others myself.

While they are not particularly rare, it is nice to include that 16 nummi which was only issued at Thessalonica (making the weak mintmark less a problem).

The handwork on the dies helps me appreciate the obvious skill of the engravers. That, and every coin is basically unique.
