Hello I'm new to the site but have been collecting coins and paper money for a couple years now but I just bought six short snorters because they just stood out to me and I need help to decipher what the writing is on them. I know that many of you can help so I will post up pics once I take some good photos of them.

according to shortsnorter.org "A short snorter is a banknote which was signed by various persons traveling together or
meeting up at different events and records who was met. The tradition was started by bush
pilots in Alaska in the 1920's and subsequently spread through the growth of military and
commercial aviation. If you signed a short snorter and that person could not produce it upon
request, they owed you a dollar or a drink"

My father years ago showed me a short snorter. His father was a pilot and it had belonged to him. According to him the tradition was that if you crossed the international date line everyone signed a dollar bill. It was more of a good luck charm/memento. The only writing should be signatures and maybe a date.

The scans need to be much larger in order to read very faint 70 year old writing. Orienting the scans for proper reading position would be helpful as well.

Pretty interesting conversation pieces.

If any are from famous pilots, they might be worth something.

Try and figure out their signatures and do some research on them, like what you did for McWethy and you might have something. You can go to that site and see if they have a value.

the One from Hawaii would be of most interest (well to me anyway)
Seeing as it is a Silver cert from Hawaii, that could link to who teh signatures are, making it even more of a conversation piece.
These notes are rare in themselves. As a snorter as well....... I dont know....
