Yep a cash withdraw in Pennys :)... I just call the bank ahead of time (they like when you do this) and go pick them up. I have already done this to 4 boxes.

Yup, go up to the teller and say id like $250 in dimes please and $250 in quarters. Then theirs that pause where they are like ok... give me a second to see what we have. Some times they come back and say. " sorry we don't have that much." in which I respond with ok. ill buy them all then . :P

I've done every denomination but I do a lot of nickels right now. Nickels have the highest concentration of older coins because the design never chained until recently. Silver 'war' nickels are a bit tougher to find but they are also still out there.
I just go to the bank, place an order for ten boxes or so and they call a week later when they come in. Some banks charge folks a few bucks premium per box (some sort of fee) but my bank doesn't.

I use banks once in a while. My best finds come from the re-rolls from the grocery stores. I find most of these are from around the neighbourhood. People will empty their piggybanks to buy candy, cigarettes, etc.. A lot of the penny rolls contain dimes (I've had one penny roll with 11 dimes in it!). Most of the little corner stores are more than happy to get rid of rolls of nickels and pennies.

i just go the an RBC and say `i collect coin, could a get a boxes of ... what you want' and the teller usually says no problem. One told me sorry but we only have old roll for the moment. told her great give me the ones that looks the oldest. she went to the back and arrange a box for me. didn't find any tresors yet except once. a roll of dimes was mixed in a box of pennies. 1.50$ profit loll.

So you think that if I go to my local grocery store, I could pick up rolls that they keep behind the counter or something?

It probably depends on the store- Where I work(retail chain store) we have a cash drawer at the customer service desk that has anywhere from $100 to $300 in rolled coin depending on what time of the day is is and how much we've "ordered" from the back. I've given a few rolls away @ a time for customers for laundry mats or in a couple cases for roll searchers. For the most part we can't do any more than a few rolls because we need it to make the checkers tills or for if they need change. My managers wouldn't be happy if we asked them to get more from the back either(it hard to get them to get us change as it is sometimes)
There's no harm in asking for coin anyway :-)
Silly question for those who get several boxes of coin at once... how do you transport it to you car? Those boxes are heavy! I lift weights for exercise a few time a week and consider my self pretty strong too :-)

Your best bet is to place an order at the bank for a box or two of whatever denomination. If you go in every week asking for stash from inventory, you will wear out your welcome quickly. I usually order between one and two thousand dollars worth when I place an order, and they don't bat an eye. Smaller or larger orders are ok too.

For multi-box orders, many banks will give you a cart to wheel out your boxes, or wheel in your dumps. Discretion is always in my mind, as I don't want to attract too much attention when picking up or dumping large orders, for safety reasons.

So you think that if I go into a bank once a week asking for 20 rolls of quarters and 40 rolls of dimes that they are gonna get irritated with me?

Sams, you will find out soon enough if they become irritated.

That's not a ridiculous amount. Many roll hunters pick up multiple boxes per week and a box is 50 rolls. Be sure to obey the golden rules of roll hunting:
1) Do not dump where you eat. Take the rolls to a different bank after you searched them. 2) See rule 1. 3) Seriously, everybody is going to throttle you if you break that rule. It's the quickest way to ruin things for everyone.

The first time I ordered a box (of halves) the head teller smoothly asked me with a grin, "What do you plan on doing with these halves after you're done?" I quickly replied, "Don't worry, they won't be coming back to here." She laughed and said, "Good!" That was the only thing she wanted to hear. I can very easily see a relationship with a bank going sour if they are nice enough to order boxes for you (which cost them money, I believe), and you dump those coins right back on them.
