Just because it has the pope on it doesn't mean it's an error :) lol had to say it (and I'm Catholic, so I'm not bashing).

But you might want to be more specific on what the error might be?

It says John Paul II on the outside ring but the inset is the coat of arm and on the reverse the outer ring says Citta del Vaticano and the inset is the bust of John Paul II.

I believe it's the design.

3 years prior to that (when they didn't put the name of the Pope in the inner circle with his portrait) it was what you expected.
