i know not to clean coins, but is there anything I can do for this... finally my first 2000 WAM and it is starting to rot! Anything I can do to help it out without ruining the coins value? I know its not worth much, but I would love to keep it and have it corrode worse over the years. thanks!

Here's my 2000 WAM (on the right) that I left alone.
Clean-2000-WAM? Clean-2000-WAM? Clean-2000-WAM? Probably not much you can do.

Cant do much to improve it. But I would keep it even though I doubt you could sell a corroded 2000 WAM. It only costs 1 cent to keep it, plus its your first.

maybe a soak in soap/water to see if that helps. But prob not much you can do for it. I have a couple that are pretty cruddy too, but I'm trying to get a roll. So far I have 18 - 1998's and 17 - 2000's. ZERO 1999's. Good luck searching, and congrats on your first - I hope your next is BU!

I do not recommend water. Acetone is your best bet. Search the forum, there are some threads that discuss how to use it. There's also a product called verdi-care that can deal with mild verdigris - you can follow-up the acetone with that. If those don't take care of it, or if there is any amount of exposed zinc, it probably cannot be saved.

Is our money really literally falling apart?

Is this what will happen to all zinc cents, or did this one spend some time in a garbage disposal?

The best you can do is delay the end by protecting it from further decay. How do you do this? I have no idea.
