Can anybody tell me how to distinguish this coin from the non-millennium?

It looks a lot like a brilliant proof. That is the only difference I am aware of.

Surface is obviously struck on a proof-like planchet. It will not have a cameo as such, but will be brilliant and not satiny. I have two, and they both appear a little darker than the 2000-D biz strike

Sure if it is in the Millennium set or a major service holder identified as a Millennium dollar then it is a millennium. If it isn't then it isn't.
