Hello everyone.

I recently bought this denarius. Can anyone give me an idea of the value and rarity? Thank you.

I will admit that I cannot, but I will say that that is a very nice coin. I love the detail in the hair and the cornucopia(?) being held by the figure on the reverse.

It is RIC III 769. LVCILLA AVGVSTA, draped bust right / HILARITAS, Hilaritas standing left, holding long palm & cornucopiae.

I don't know the RIC rarity rating off hand but is seems to be fairly scarce. Examples about the same grade selling for about 75.00.

Bear in mind, the three examples of sales I have found were in 2000, 2001 and 2005. Might be a bit higher now. (could also be lower if more have turned up).

Thank you friends. I found this one http://www.cngcoins.com/Coin.aspx?CoinID=100145# but I think that my denarius is a little better.

This is a nice coin with an excellent strike and very little wear. Centering is good also. In this condition I would say right around $90.00.

Yeah, it's not a reverse type you see very often. Love it.

Beautiful coin and very nice detail. Coins at CNG Auction seem to garner higher than market price and I'm unsure why. I would say your coin is worth in the $75-$100 range. Its a nice coin for sure.

I was just looking at the offerings on ebay when I found this Lucilla Denarius for sale. It's different from yours, but the asking price is $250. I think the two coins are in similar condition, but I can't speak to the rarity of either coin. I just thought you might be interested.

I appreciate your opinions. I think that in the $ 75- $ 100 range would be a Faustina Junior's HILARITAS denarius, for example, but Lucilla I think it is more scarce.
