I am totally new to Ikes, but being presidents day I thought I would try out a new president! Today I bought a blue box and brown box Ike each dated 1971 for $15 for the pair which I think I got a good deal on. Is there anything I should look for on these that would make them special such as an error variety or such? Thanks in advance

$15 for two silver Ikes? That's less than melt. Good deal indeed!

some of those brown box Ikes have some hazing that makes them look very unique, I do not collect them myself but I have seen some of then in the brown box that I thought had great eye appeal even though some people do not like the way the hazing makes them look

Great deal. Do you plan to get the other blue and brown boxes too?

Great job! I have an almost completed unc. Ike collection and a hoard of AU Ike's and have found them very fun to collect. As others said, you got a smokin hot deal on those. As for the haze, I have come to embrace it and look for the most unique and good looking hazers I can find, especially the deep blue haze. I like the packaging of the brown box Ike's and plan on always having some in OGP but I also want to get some pristine certified proofs as well, but I think that the brown box Ike's have their own special place in any serious collection.

First of all Congratulations on the pair of 71's quite a bit under spot here are a few Eisenhower Varieties for the 71's there are more than just the ones with links below. Such as the 1971 S Business Strike (UNC) S/S RPM in the Cherry Pickers Guide it is FS-501 Also what I consider the BIG ones which is the 1971 S Prototype Strike,of which there is only two known specimens Plus reading through the thread that JBuck posted will show many many varieties from a large number of Eisenhower Enthusiasts Enjoy the treasure Hunt, It can be a real adrenalin rush. I hope this helps Terry 1.1971-S IKE SILVER PEG LEG http://ikegroup.org/CHEATSHEET.htm2.1971-S EISENHOWER PARTIAL PEG LEG PROOF http://www.ikegroup.org/PPLSEPT08.htm3. 71-S BS DD 4/21 (Wexler's DDO-004/DDR-021 http://ikegroup.org/4-21.htm

The hazing is a part of the deal. I bought them knowing it was there, so I do not see it as a problem.
