Hello fellow CCF members. I would like some opinions concerning the level of details visible on these two coins. They were both non-gradeable due to some form of cleaning. Thank you for your thoughts!

The 1861 is close to MS Details and the 1872 looks like AU Details.

PCGS now offers "details" grades and I hope people take advantage of it. There is no additional charge and the detail level would have been printed on the label along with the problem (since these are newer slabs).

I wonder why there are no 'details grades' printed on the labels for these two coins

You can still get them either way. The ones labeled "genuine" do not not spell out the problem and some people must prefer that option!

I agree with MS details on the first and AU details on the second.

MS and AU

They are Half Dimes, not dimes.

I'd go with MS-62 (some displayed luster) and AU-58 (appears pretty flat/minimum luster).

I agree there may have been some light cleaning on both of these.

I thought the pictures would make that pretty clear...

I suppose they do. No different than calling them quarters in the topic title though. Big difference between dimes and Half Dimes, just saying. I thought there was a possibility you may have posted the wrong pictures again like you did on all those Morgans that night.

I'm going to say AU details on both coins. Too bad they were cleaned.

That was an honest mistake AND I figured out what happened and fixed the problem.

I never said I thought it was intentional. If you read the forum rules you agreed to when you signed up you are not supposed to be typing in all caps, which is the equivalent of shouting. Sorry if me trying to help has somehow offended you.

Just trying to emphasize the word and in a sort of way. I don't think that 'yelling' the word and is going to upset anyone.
