All 1940 fifty cent coins have the same date spacing configuratio,, ie; all reverse dies were replicated....

Starting in 1941 and lasting through to 1949, the last two date digits of the fifty cent series were punched into the die individually (unlike the other denominations) and the 1945 fits right in there. So the 1945s has all kinds of numismatic possibilities, there are about ten different repunches, a pointed and a blunt 5, a wide and narrow date along with other punch spacing variations.... none of them are premium priced but are well worth looking for.

Edited to correct typo.

Hi Coiladdict,
How about posting a picture of the last two digits of the date on that 1945 fifty cent coin and we can see what's there. There were only 42 reverse dies used in that year, so there's about a 30% chance that it has a a non-progressive variety and a 50%chance of a progressive variety if the die was nearing end of life.
