Hello my Coin Community family,

I have an odd 1917 Austria 20 heller coin (KM# 2826). It is a pinch smaller than it should be, the coin features are closer to the edge than they should be, and the edge isn't reeded. Check out the photos. Is there any chance this is some kind of mint error? Or do you believe that it is far more likely that someone evenly shaved it down somehow, perhaps to get it to fit better into a piece of jewelry or something?

I'd say someone filed it, you can see how uneven the edge is. And probably to make it fit in a vending machine rather than a piece of jewelry.

Seems like a lot of effort to cheat a vending machine! The edge probably is a pinch uneven, though. That's the biggest reason I also was thinking that it was altered post-minting.
