The second two pictures are the ones I took. However when I take pictures, it never shows the luster that is really there. What do you guys think this one would grade as?

I would say AU 50 or 55. Perhaps a bit better.
The luster is good.
Based upon your picture, and only by the obverse, the cheek shows wear.
Also, the lower leaves of the wreath.
The last year of issue was saved and the 1916 is the most common date
of the series.
My opinion and nothing more.

I will say EF-45. Nice attractive coin but I think it shows just a bit too much wear for a higher grade. I'm just an amateur grader though so take whatever I say with a grain of salt.

Love the series and just started collecting it. I would have to agree with the above posts EF45-AU50.

Note to tzcards:

http://blog.davidlawrence.com/index...arber-dimes/

is just about indispensable if you want to collect these dimes.
I keep my copy within easy reach and I keep reading it.

One caution: the online version has many little errors that the original book does not have. Must have been entered by hand.

As a contributing editor of the Journal of the Barber Coin Collectors' Society, my opinion and knowledge about these coins is a bit above average.

I would be happy to answer any questions you might have.

I think it is around a AU-50/53. Nice coin!

I hate to use points grading because its too hard to pinpoint a grade from a picture, but I think its "around" a 50 The obv has wear on the hair, leaves and face and the reverse with the wear on the letters and at the high points of the wreath. The fields show a few marks and rubs also. A nice collectible coin whatever the grade.

I'm happy with it. Was a nice cheapish coin to fill in my type set. Thanks everyone for the grading opinions!

And THAT, dear murrellington, is the only real thing that matters:
