Please grade. Do you think that 62's of this quality carries a premium? I have two rolls of them that were dumped at the bank.

In order to better answer your question, we need to look at the steps on the reverse and determine if they are 'full / complete.' If so, then yes, there can be some serious premiums... especially at the MS65 & MS66 level.

I know digital cameras tend to pick-up things the human eye does not readily see, but how are the coins for contact marks? First, sort the ones with a shot at MS65+, then worry about the 'full step' situation. I would like to see or hear what you come up with after taking a good look.

I do not think it has full steps.

I am just trying get an idea if this one is MS60 or above? The one pictured is one of the better ones of the lot but they are all very close in quality and look. I am thinking this coin is above MS60 but I am not sure. Thought I would get barometer from this coin before I bored you folks with a bunch of low end yawners;)

BTW a few of these coins are showing hints of some nice rainbow toning in the future and they all look like original lustered surfaces. Wish my picks were better.

I grade that Jefferson at AU, with all the rim dings and bag marks - value six cents to melt (Numismedia)

1962 Jefferson Full Step is valued at $5 at MS60 on PCGS, whose price guides are notoriously high.

with j_h_s on value guidelines: The PCGS pricing guide is notoriously liberal. To each their own, however I prefer the NGC/Numismedia pricing guide which overall, I find to be more conservative.

As for the coin you have posted. You are correct, it does not appear to be a 'full step' or full strike example from the 1962 series.

Personally, I would not go down to AU. I will say at least MS60. I am not able to see much in the way of wear on the coin's high points. Besides, bad marks & rim dings can happen before the coin even leaves the mint.
