Going through some coins my wife's grandfather gave her. Found a very interesting coin. Looked it up online, but want to verify some information. It is a 1893s Morgan dollar. It is in a sort of foam holder with clear hard protective plastic covering the front and back. Came in a blue sleeve with "America's rarest coins" on it. has a COA from a member of ANA & ANS. I'm not a coin expert, but to me it looks near if not perfect to me. Can anyone give me some help

Welcome! Can you post a pic? Could be a very nice coin. This year is, howevere, one of the most counterfieted.

I can try to post a picture tomorrow. Are there things I can look for. I was trying to do some more reading and saw info about fakes and "copies". Any way to distinguish those?

Sure, got a couple years? Just kidding if you can get pics up here there are folks who could easily help.

Test it with a magnet....should be nonmagnetic..weigh it should weigh 26.73 grams.

I read something about coins saying "copy". Is that something they should say or not say?

I'm confused. Does your coin say "copy"?

They shouldn't say that. A coin written ``copy`` would obviously be a copy. Just open it and use a fridge magnet on it, if it sticks, it is fake.

Welcome firemedic1050!

Sounds like a silver bullion round, not a Morgan dollar.
