So this guys pad did not freeze over or anything, but I decided it was time to start adding some numismatic beauts! I have snagged a real solid what looks like a possible grade 1928 Peace dollar.... Also a 1881S Morgan that looks darn near un-circ, as well as a 1903 Morgan of similar condition.... Just talked to the girlfriend and it is official, we are gonna have a baby as well, so nice start for future coin history lessons! I will post some pics of the new items as time allows....

If you need to sell the 1928 Peace to buy diapers...let me know (after I hit the 250 post mark, of course). :D
Congrats on becoming a father to be. I'm sure you'll make a great dad.

Great news! I just found out we're going to have our second. Our first one is already three, and he loves looking at coins with Daddy.

Quote: Just talked to the girlfriend and it is official, we are gonna have a baby Terrific news, Hawk! Congrats to both you and the prospective Mom. Raising children is THE most important thing that any of us will ever do. I 2nd the opinion that you will make a great Dad. I hope that you and your girlfriend will get married so that you both have the legal parental rights that you deserve. I have read a number of stories in the news about couples who lived together, had kids, and then one of them met a tragic death. When that happened, the state usually takes the kids because, technically, neither of the parents is legally related to them. They go into foster care. This seems to happen most when the mother dies because a mother can prove parenthood via the birth process and the child's birth certificate. The father can also prove it via DNA testing but the state is not required to do such tests before taking the kid(s). It is simply an ugly situation made much worse by over-zealous government intervention. It is best and easily avoided too via a couple of "I do"s.

Thanks all for the nice thoughts an congrats on number two CPC24.....
I found out oddly enough OFFICIALLY today on my 38th birthday, so one to remember for sure, lol....
Oddly enough, I found out that she had a test come back positive on March 3rd. My late grandmother (mother's mom), was born on March 3rd 1924 an past on Thanksgiving while taking a nap after Thanks giving lunch back in 2005. Full circle of life of shorts....

How cool would it be to be born year of the dragon, as my girlfriend is as well and due on Nov 2nd, so could be a Halloween baby. My girlfriends father's wife is from China, an she said it is good luck for the family an home to have a mother or father an child, who both share the year of the dragon cool enough to hear....
Oh an Ed great advice, I would have never have thought about that. We have planned to get married anyhow, but I did not wanna push it on her, until I new she would be comfortable with me, esp with age gap of 38 an 23. But we rarely ever argue and have been together for five years, so not exactly jumping into it without getting to know each other so to speak....
I figure it is God's will now to happen at this time, so just gonna go with it an take it one formula buy at a time, set of diapers etc.. Never easy to raise a child, or CHEAP, but the six an a half billion others out there all had to start from similar beginnings I figure, as did I and all of you as well....

The next Chinese New Year will not be until next February I think, so you're definitely going to have a little dragon baby. Congrads again my friend!
I ran into pretty much the same situation. My wife and I were engaged and were planning a wedding with out little bugger took root in the oven. We decided to get the paperwork out of the way so as to avoid any potential legal mess, and have the belated ceremony when we are financially better off. It would be nice to have our son walk down the aisle with us as a ring-boy too. But, to each his/her own, I'm sure you'll come up with something that works for the two, I mean nearly three, of yous. + you've got an excuse to be stacking dragon themed coins now :)

Yes I agree Pobox as I already grabbed a 2 oz. lunar dragon 2012 2nd series, so good lunar dragon start. May look at some of those Pamp Luunar dagon bars next, as I really like those, and the front an backside wrapping around the bar design....

Quote: There is nothing like being a parent. I second that! It can be frustrating at times and also expensive but at the end of one's life, we can look back on raising a couple of good kids as our primary success story... and that is... priceless.
