Two more from the stuffed book: any info deeply appreciated.

I notice that the two denominations were printed at different places. Does this have any importance?

Again, thanks
btsmith

British North Borneo became a state within the Federated Malay States.
BNB became Sabah; and
FMS became Malaysia. The back of your $5 shows the heraldic badges of the component states.

and the links there.

I spent a week around Sandakan about 12 years ago: beautiful country; rich history; great food.
The pace is a lot slower than on "Peninsular Malaysia" (= the mainland).

The different printers just reflect whoever had the contract at the time. TDLR was kept very busy "making money" for the many authorities that issued banknotes for the many components of the Empire.

The first I believe is "Malaysia & British Borneo - Board of Commissioners of Currency - P8b - - 01 Mar 1959 -$1 Dollar - printed by Thomas de la Rue"

The second I believe is "Malaysia & British Borneo - Board of Commissioners of Currency - P2 - 21 Mar 1953 - $5 - printed by Waterlow & Sons"

As to value have a look at below link and work your way backwards
