Just got my USB Microscope and it works great. Got lucky and found what looks to be a pointed 5 with large beads. I also have another pointed 5 with regular beads.

I would say blunt 5's as well. I just got a cheap digital microscope last week and they are great.

Good- day folcan99

I moved my post up so I didn't have to explain the whole thing.
I was a little frustrated about this until "Ugly" took the time to explain "pointed 5" to me...then I found this...little piece of metal off the tip.
Hope it helps.

on a pointed 5, the tip of 5 is almost touching branch/limb of tree.

The pointed 5 appears to have a die chip on the very end.

The easiest way to tell a pointed 5 variety, is there is a sort of triangle that's formed between the upper tip of the line of the 5 and the lower tip of the line of the 5, and it is bevelled down to the field of the coin. You can really see it when it's a pointed 5

I understand but you cant tell me that its not a pointed 5, sure isn't a blunt 5. I'm sure that there are a variety of pointed 5's and not all have to look exact like the one posted by Coiladdict.
