Hi,

I found this 1997 5 cents with a kind of golden color. Later I found a 1998 with the exact same color. Have you seen this before?

That's a nice tone for a '97. That colourization occurs in other years, and can be found in PL sets also.

Can you post a photo of the whole coin? Nickel tends to tone a nice gold or blue.

It's not easy to capture the exact color. The real one looks more like the first picture, the second one is too dark.

Due to the copper content of the coin. After 1981, Canadian 5-cents are 75%-25% Cu-Ni alloys... roll ends tone nicely too...

So...Does that mean SPP that if I took a 1981 or later nickel and left it in the sunlight, it would tone faster...?...Or is that sort of thinking just too far out there...?
