Hi folks, new member here again.

Didn't know how to narrow down my visual search of all the coins with holes in the center!

Strikes me as funny...don't even know which way is up to photo...sorry about any neck-craning that may occur!

Any help greatly appreciated.

The smaller one is a machine struck cash coin (most of the cash coins were cast) from Kwangtung Province of Chinese Empire. They were struck in 1909 - 1911 (bearing no date). Both images are upright.

The other one, which is sideways, I don't know offhand, need to look it up. It's older and cast (as supposed to be).

The reason for the center hole is so they could be strung together and worn, say, around the neck - a nice alternative to a bulging purse, especially if you don't have any pockets.

Found it,
The bigger one is a cast bronze (they are both bronze) cash coin issued by the Board of Revenue in Peking (now Beijing) in the name of Emperor Jen Tsung, 1790 - 1820. Images of both sides need to turn 90 degrees CCW to be upright.

svslav---thanks a lot.

I'm a bit confused, though (being new to all this). Am I understanding it right that both of these were struck/isssued between 1909 and 1911?

Thanks.

No, the smaller one was struck between 1909 and 1911, in Kwangtung, China, Emperor Hsuang-Tung.
The bigger one was cast between 1790 and 1820, in Beijing, China, Emperor Jen Tsung.

Syslav--Thanks a lot!

I see it's not worth more than a couple dollars, but having a coin made between 1790 and 1820 is definately pretty cool. And thanks to you I found a Chinese coin website that gives me a lot of info.

Thanks again....now I see why you folks do this!
