I haven't posted anything for a while. I have too many new Virginia notes to post and there's not much interest in nationals here so I haven't been spam posting, but here's one from a local show today.

This bank is responsible for the majority of Date Backs known for the state of Virginia. Still a very scarce type for the state, but if it wasn't for this bank, they'd be rare. Only 8 of these $5 DB notes known for this bank, including this one. For some reason the $10 DB notes are nearly triple that amount.

That is a nice large size national. Do you plan to get it graded?

Thank-you. I have been wanting a nice date back on Richmond for a while.

Likely not. I am old school when it comes to nationals -- I prefer the notes raw. However, I will still buy graded Virginia notes if it is one I need.

Wheat - I don't know much about nationals but it sure is a looker. Congrats and thanks for sharing.

@Coinfrog and mtuma3, thanks for the kind words on my funnyback. I'm pretty happy with it.

Thank-you.

Here's another, but it's from the other side of the country.

RCGS? Had to look that one up. Don't think I've ever seen that TPG before.

I could be wrong but I don't think I've seen many California Nationals on this site. Nice note! Any vignettes on the back?

1862 Bank of The State of South Carolina Two Dollars Obsolete Note. One particular intriguing feature of this bill is it was cancelled by the Treasurer of Richland County, SC (the same county I'm moving to next year.) Issued in Charleston and cancelled in Columbia. This is also my first graded note.

I am so sorry.

Just kidding.

I lived there, 1983-1984. I left SC and came back in 85, but in the Upstate now.

@scopru It sure is! When I saw it I had to buy it despite the premium for it. Hoping to come across a few more.

@jbuck: It definitely is! I got my first taste of Columbia in the mid 90s and still can't believe I haven't moved back that way yet. I'm also planning to return to school at University of SC. I'm hoping to get more graded notes for my collection even if quality beats quantity.
