The gentleman in the portrait is Edwin Stanton, Lincoln's Secretary of War and one on the great unsung heroes of the Civil War. A bit nutty-looking by today's standards, I agree.

The small size Stuart notes are tough to find. I've seen several offerings of large size, but none is small since 2016. The corner tear is a shame, but you take what you can get.

Here's the large Stuart I've had for some time. They book at $1500. Just a tough bank in general.

Tough note for sure, one of only two Type 1 $5s known with less than 20 notes in total listed for this bank.

I already had a Black Eagle note, but I decided I needed an upgrade.

This iconic design epitomizes the beauty of large US currency. Nice pick-up.

Another scarce bank that doesn't show up very often. This one is one of the better known notes condition wise.

Last small size from this town sold in 2017. Heritage hasn't sold one since 2012.

Those are cool - how did you come across them? Interesting, they both seem to have a paper clip discoloration in the same place.
