I have not been able to find any specific information on this silver coin which has what appears to be the date1701. Any help pin pointing this one is appreciated...

Coin:

Obverse:
PETRUS II. D. G. PORT. REX. ET. BRAS. D.
The arms of Portugal; at sides, 640, reading down-
ward three rosettes, in perpendicular line; the date,
17 - 01, divided by crown.

Reverse:
SUBQ. - SIGN. - NATA - STAB. Globe over cross of the Order of
Christ. Struck at Pernambuco with mint-mark P

I have found the following:

The first mint house "Bahia" in Brazil was in 1694. In 1699 the foundry was transferred to Rio de Janeiro then moved to Pernambuco in 1700 and then returned to Rio de Janeiro in 1702 for good. The Mint Houses of Bahia, Rio de Janeiro and Pernambuco struck coins in silver of 640, 320, 160, 80, 40 and 20 Reis. These have the reverse legend: SVBQ SIGN NATA STAB which I believe translates to (Under this sign he was born and will stay).

The coins minted in Pernambuco have the letter P on the reverse, designating the minting origin of the coinage.

Brazil 640 Reis 1701P KM90.2 17.92 grams of 0.917 silver. Worth $18.50 in 3rd Edition (2003) catalogue that I have.
