Now this is a grade that is very important to me. This is a coin that is very special to me, it's my Reunion Island 1948 1 Franc Mule Error, with the lettering "Republique Francais Union Francais" instead of the normal "Republique Francais" seen on a coin without the error. It is the coin pictured in my avatar and it's the first rare coin I ever came across. I've been pondering on what it grades for quite some time. And yes this is my last post in this section for the night

I can't see any obvious wear on this coin at all, I can't see any obvious nicks or scratches either. I would need a 10x glass to do that.

Without such a close inspection, it does not appear to have circulated.

I will be optimistic. MS 60.

If you would like to see my PCGS graded MS65, it is in the Heritage Auctions 2013 January 6-7 Ancient & World Coin Signature Auction in New York. You can view this at: http://coins.ha.com/c/item.zx?saleN...tIdNo=219001 . After January 2013, you can view it via the auction archives at ha.com. This coin is in a PCGS double holder with the regular issue 1948 1 Franc (KM6.1) for comparison, which is also graded MS65 by PCGS. By some miracle, I purchased both coins together at the same time, and was quite pleased that they both graded MS65. I see from the PCGS Population Report that there is a single Mule at MS65 (this coin) and none graded higher. Of the regular issues, there are two graded at MS65 (with one of these in the PCGS double holder), again with none finer. The PCGS population report for Reunion coins can be accessed at: http://www.pcgseurope.com/PopDetail...3?l=en&m=275 .
