I can't find any listing for these 2 encased postage notgeld(kapselgeld). They were issued for the Nordpfalzer Volksbank in Winnweiler Germany. They are not listed in the Menzel notgeld catalogues but all the others that I have are listed. I don't find them on any German auction sites either. Anyone familiar with these?

Hello Worldnumis,
-- Menzel did only know about 4/5 or less more of the german capsules.
-- In this moment no special catalogue exists for that sort of german emergency money, but we are working hard on it :).
-- This two are the only known for the town Winnweiler.

At least some thoughts about the value:
-- the black one is rare, the stamp value is usual, the conservation is middle; about 300$ or little more;
-- the white one is rare, the stamp value is unusual, the conservation is middle; about 350$ or little more;

Interesting is the fact, that we thought until tody, that the Volksbank Winnweiler only produced some prototypes or only few exemplars for collectors. But your two looks like having been in normal circulation.
Congratulations

These may not have actually circulated. I obtained them in a small box of coins, medals, and tokens, many years ago. All the items in the box were loose, so these may have just been mis-handled.
The values surprise me and should make my heirs happy.

KaBKaB Since Menzel is only about 80% complete, maybe you can show some of the unlisted pieces you have.
Also, what references do you use besides Menzel?

@Worldnumis,
First of all Albert Pick wrote a small book 1970 "Briefmarkengeld". The main part is about encased stamps in paper form, but there are also listings of encased postages we discuss here. And there are some capsules described, which are not in Menzel. On the other hand there are several regional catalogues like Wolfgang Hasselmann "Berlin Marken und Zeichen" or Sönnich Grossmann "Marken und Zeichen der freien und Hansestadt Hamburg". Btw. in Hasselmann is a notice about a capsule for the sewing-machine producer Singer, but without a picture. Maybe the existence is just a rumor :) I do not know anyone who has one.
It is not easy at this moment to get a good list of all known capsules and still new capsules occur on the market. And if two of the bigger collectors see the capsule at the same time the price is exploding for this piece. Sometimes the winning collector never show this capsule again for years. Collectors are sometimes very difficult :)
And yes I hope to make some scans this weekend.

I found the French site. It is very useful to supplement Menzel's listings.
