Ottoman, Mahmud II year 26, proberly a 20 piaster, need wight and size to be sure.

Looks like a coin to me, and I don't see any signs of a counterfeit.

It is Mahmud II indeed, the ninth series, year 26. Minted in Constantinople, Turkey.
Low grade silver, only 17%.

I think Enlil meant 20 para; it could be a piastre - the answer to the size question would be nice to determine the coin (and its value).

Then it must be 100 para (or 2 and 1/2 piastres). My old catalog doesn't give it much of a value, $3 in very good, and $4.50 in fine. For myself I'd value it around USD $10.
