I am new to coins and I have a worn 1906 Canadian Quarter. In all my other coins the picture on the front and the back both face the same way. The 1906 they face opposite. When the head is right way up and you turn it over then the words etc on other side are upside down. Is this normal? Thanks for any help.

Normal. Termed Coin Orientation. Here is the spec for this coin:

Look for "Die axis".

The Royal Canadian Mint opened in Ottawa in 1908 after which nearly all Canadian coins were minted in Canada. While the designs remained the same, the die axis was changed from "coinage" to "medal", except for the 1 cent coins which had always been made at medal axis. Coinage die axis means that if you place your fingers above and below the portrait then spin the coin around the other side comes out upside down. Medal axis means it comes out the same way up.

Apologies to whoever I plagerized this from ! :-)
