Hello All, please bear with me. I am usually hanging around the coin side of the house and I know absolutely nothing about paper currency. So, I need some help.

A little background on this note. In 2009 a Bible with a print date of 1867 was purchased at an estate auction in Demopolis, Alabama. This note was tucked in between the pages of the Bible. I have no reason to doubt the person relaying the 'story.'

On both the reverse & obverse you can see what looks like discoloration. Up-close, this is not discoloration, but rather some transfer of deteriorating paper from the pages of the Bible onto the CSA note. The 'residue' easily flakes off of the note. Also, on the reverse you can clearly see where the ink bled through from the obverse where the the serial numbers, etc. are written.

I have looked at the note with a USB microscope and everything appears to be authentic with signatures, etc...

Problem, there is no 'series' number on the left side of the note. The plate number is obviously 'A.' I also can not discern if the serial number is 4307 or 6307... neither number shows up on the counterfeit list.

Thank you for your help!

Lets try this... Does anyone know where, or to whom, I should go to get some guidance on this Confederate note? Thanks in advance.

Where does the note say it is a series 7? I was just wondering because all of the others I have seen have a 'series #' on the left side of the note and this one does not have a series number.

It is indeed a series 7. One of the most common, and appears to be genuine.

Good. I was afraid the note might have been questionable since there was no series number on the left side. I appreciate the validity and series confirmation.

Now, would you call the serial number 4307 or 6307 or something completely different

Possibly 6507? I don't think the second digit is a 3 though I could be wrong.

I got a message from a guy named Ed, at CSA Notes. He says he thinks the serial number is 6317. Also, he said it would be normal for the note to not have a series number printed on the left side.
