Anyone wishing to buy UK proof coins should buy them from the official source, The Royal Mint, as some of these other companies charge a lot more than the official price, for example...
http://www.royalmint.com/shop/the_l...5_pound_coin £99.50 + P&P.
From Westminster... £125.00 + P&P.

Hope that we've made a few collectors aware of this dodgy practice.

Mike.

But you can get the 2012 UK £5 for £5 with free shipping:

http://www.westminstercollection.co...on-page.aspx

while The Royal Mint offering is £5 plus shipping (in the UK that is a £2.95 charge).

So in this case, Westminster Collection is the better source for the coin.

Another example of the higer price from The Royal Mint is the 2012 Silver Britannia coin.

Need to check the price on regular basis but right now, their price is £28.60 cheaper than The Royal Mint.

And for the Proof 2012 Olympic £5 Crown, they offer it for £89.95 plus shipping.

So like everything else, it pays to shop around.

News is out. It is a 5 oz silver coin for the 2012 Olympics. Price is £545 plus shipping and they say only 7500 will be made. Can't find the coin yet on The Royal Mint site.

I'm not sure I like the design. Two sides look like they belong to two different coins - so it's "unbalanced".

Good thing this coin is not for circulation, looks like it's going to be fresh out of the mint in Fine on the reverse.

A £10 coin? Yes!

What do I win for guessing right?

That sounds more like punishment rather than a prize for winning.

Who said it had to be a nice prize?

That's all you got if you applied to the London Mint Office buying undated 20p promotion!
