1835 Capped Bust Half - What Is Up With The Date?

I think it may have been cleaned at some time, but I'm not an expert. Do you think someone rubbed an eraser or something abrasive over the date? Also, I'm curious about the mark on the face - can't tell if it's on the coin or maybe just the holder. Member ANA and EAC "You got to lose to know how to win".
