To complete a topic and discussion on the edge markings of Spanish, Seville mint 8 Reales dated 1776 and thereabouts, see previous topic
http://www.coincommunity.com/forum/...&whichpage=1There is an 8 Reales dated 1776 from the Seville mint in Spain in the next St James's Auction in London, 19th April (est£400/£500)
http://www.sixbid.com/nav.php?p=viewsale&sid=571The coin is lot number 871. I have sketched a representation of the edge see attached.
I hope that helps add something of use to our earlier edge pattern discussion and of help to collectors.
In my specialist area I notice in the same auction there are two Bank of England Dollars 1804 (Lots 275 and 286) that have Spanish Mint under types dated 1772 and 1779. From the background research presented in the catalalogue they have have been classed as extremely rare, only three known. I hope that does not price them out of my reach. They have estimated at £1000/£2000 (US$1590/$3180) and £800/£1000 (US$1263/$1590)-In my dreams.
