I finally have a couple decent campgate coins to add to my collection. Just got these in the mail today. I like how round the turrets are on the first coin and the second has a nice green patina but some corrosion.

Nice--I especially like the strike and centering on the first!

I can tell that there isn't much I can do for this coin but there is a few spots that I can take off on the reverse. I have it in some distilled water getting ready for a light clean. This coin is ready to put away I took a few pictures and now I can just view it in my online photo albums.

I cant really tell what the mint mark on the second coin is but I think its PTR with a small chip missing from the R. I think the star and crescent on the first coin is the first I've had in a mint mark.

Ok I couldnt leave well enough alone so here is the final coin. It came out with better details. This coin isn't perfect but it looks better in hand. The last picture is the finished coin in the sunlight to bring out the color. The first picture is of the coin when I bought it, the second is taken at an angle to show the details of the finished coin and the third is a really bad photo but its just meant to show the color in the coin. †his was a light clean with no chemicals.

This is just an example of how you can buy coins that arent the best but not considered "uncleaned" and work on them a little to make them look 100% better. I've had mixed results with fully uncleaned coins and I think you have a better chance of coming out with a collectible grade coin buying these type of coins, not considered "high grade" or from uncleaned lots. As long as they are pretty much problem free I can get some decent coins.
