I have found a Canadian $10 bill without the silver stripe. I thought it was counterfeit so I gave it to my local RCMP. It was returned by them to the mint who authenticated the bill as Canadian currency. Does this bill have value to collectors?

The stripe on the side of a journey series note can be taken off. I am not sure how they are removed, but I know that people can take them off.

I moved your post to the 'Canadian Coins, Bank Notes, and Paper Money' forum for the appropriate attention.
Rest in Peace

Possibly. Little late to ask now.

I've had several where the strip was partially removed. I attribute it to washing machines.

The first series of 10$ Journey notes (2001 issue) didn't have the stripe. It was added in 2005. See http://www.coinsandcanada.com/bank-...s-prices.php
