The 2012 Baby Proof Set has been riddled with delay after delay until recently when it began finally to be shipped out
I noticed a few differences with what has been advertised, what is on the RAM site and what is being delivered and I would like someone to verify/clarify
1. It seems that the sets being delivered do not have a medallion, though many sites on internet are selling sets with medallion mentioned in ad eg Australia Post site
2. Packaging is different to that illustrated. The internal packging is brown and not white as illustrated on RAM site and does not have the plaque under the coins
It would be nice if someone who has received a set can verify the above is true
Also, does anyone know exactly why there were delays in the shipment of these sets
Thanks in advance to all who reply
Cheers

I spoke to the mint today, because I 'need' one because my wife & I are having a little one in June. I was told by one of the ladies in their sales office that possibly the end of April.
So waiting patiently...but also impatiently.

From what I understand dealers have received a batch for shipment to their customers but temporary unavailable again for public via RAM online site
If you need one urgently you may want to contact a dealer directly but they too may be out of stock as they were filling backorders they had

Hmm.. I hadn't noticed this till you had mentioned it. The Baby Proof sets don't have a medallion like the Baby Mint sets, a big marketing mistake as it's now just a normal year set with basic Proof coins, and if you were buying a Proof set you would get the original type with a gold plated 50c. duh! Baby Proof Set $125 Baby Mint Set $45 Medallion in baby mint set, upper left of packaging

Thanks for info Aussie Coin Received a set during the year and I can now verify the fact there is no medallion in baby proof set, packagaing is completely different from one illustrated on ram site including no plaque, and boy it looks ugly in brown... The items listed on ebay are accurate I agree this is a big marketing blunder by the mint.....a standard proof set a mere $5 less that proof set with selectively gold plated 50c coin......not much of a choice in terms of value for money. I guess that is what happens when you put profit ahead of collectors interests

My dealer called my today & said they'd finally got them in...& the guy who called stated $135... I said nope! I'm paying the mint price $125! I should've called the guy below, who I'll use in the future (it would've cost $122.50 to my door). I'm not sure if I can post his details on the forum, worst case I'll remove them later. They're a guy I spoke to who deals with sets, all current sets 10% off RRP. Only $10 postage & FREE post with orders over $300. http://stores.ebay.com.au/Smartdog-...nd-Banknotes ...his email geoff@smartdog.com.au

DUDE is that 10% off anything I order or pre-order. And how about Perth Mint stuff or is it just RAM. I occasionally buy stuff from him and never knew about this!

I would totally recommend smartdog_au he is awesome and he even lets me have normal postage instead of registered post for cheaper items which is great, I have never had an item go missing in the mail, and he is always great with communication. I got the purple royal visit / birthday 50c on cards from him and blobby threepence :)
